Water series
Rantings of trial and error
I am open to experimentation in my photography. Admittedly, my compulsive nature is the greatest down fall to my creative process or so I’ve convinced myself. While I am capable of envisioning a photograph and then execute it, nothing eats away at me more then a failed attempt.
This isn’t about my woes as a photographer or how I am counting down the days until my undergraduate exit. This is however about my attempt to relinquish some control over the images I create. I have come to call this series as the Water series.
Enjoy.

New York:: Friday, May 13 - Tuesday, May 17
In May I completed a near five day marathon-trip to New York. I saw Fifth Avenue and walked the Brooklyn Bridge. I witnessed the mastery of Q-Tip and McQueen, but was moved by the brilliance demonstrated at Bar 13.
Came, saw and never expect to conquer.

10:11pm in Times Square

11:29pm in the Financial District

Bar 13/Union Square at 1:29am

Young padawan and strobes
Studies have resumed at an alarming rate and I’ve found myself only getting to my laptop to check email… Facebook… and well, Twitter. Busy is busy, right?
Took on another 2011 shoot with hopefully great success. My fingers are crossed that processing the film from this shoot produces some great shots. Until then I snapped some digital photographs to tickle your fancy.

Sha’Mira DeAnne, my always willing subject

Metering while Adrienne K. waits patiently.

Hope you enjoyed, darlings! These twelve hour days have me pretty burnt out but aiming to resume my regular postings.
Keep an eye out the remaining portraits of my vintage cameras. I have yet to spot my instant Kodak camera which leads me to believe it is in storage in Atlanta. Honestly, it’s my glorified paper weight but I love it nonetheless. I’ll just alternate the Kodak with another vintage glory.
Until next time, love!

Cheers, darling.
I chose ‘Lucky 13’ things this time last year to look forward to in 2010. As I stated then, I maintain “these are not resolutions, but these are things I feel are overdue or I could use in my life, all things permitting.”
I find it oddly charming that I can only consider items #1 and #13 fulfilled. But again these weren’t resolution and deadlines are overrated.
As 2009 winds down some thoughts of 2010 have called for my attention. These are not resolutions, but these are things I feel are overdue or I could use in my life, all things permitting.
1. Brand my photography – shameless self-promotion.
2. Take on an internship in a personal passion, because I am ready and have been overdue since 2008.
3. Travel – New York to reconnect and see the Yankees, Ohio and chill with my Jade’sen, Cali for Jasmine J. and broadening my East Coast spirit…
4. … while not forgetting to make true use of older sister’s discount before she moves to bigger and better things in graduate school.
5. Start therapy sessions again because if you’re going to be self-absorbed and make everything about you then might as well have a paid professional who’ll condone it 100%.
6. Have individual lunch dates with my J.M. & Missy C.W..
7. Read twice as much in 2010 as I did in 2009, this was three times as much as I did in 2008…
8. …this reminds me to acquire a subscription to bitch magazine.
9. Remain perfectly content that I have not gone 100% vegan yet – already do more to help this world then the average American.
10. Spend a day on a different college campus with a good friend – may not be in attendance for my classes, but it’s class
11. Go to the beach…
12. … and consider putting funds aside to pick up guitar again in 2011.
13. Love me helplessly and surround myself with others who offer no less.
I stumbled with grace in 2010 and didn’t have to go as far as I thought to broaden my East Coast spirit. Cheers to another year, dudes!
